Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 26,024 Likes: 186 | I'd spread it out with the bobcat, then till it into the soil to incorportat it, then get a sheepsfoot roller in there to compact it. You can't just spread it out on the soil and fill the pond. On second thought you can just spread it out, but don't expect it to seal the pond.... BTW, Welcome to the forum!! |

Shipping costs the same, regardless of how much I buy, so I'm going to get 15 super sacks (45,000 lbs). If I use 2 lbs per sq ft, I only need 4-5 bags max. Just have to figure out what to do with the rest. I'm in southwest Ohio. |

Joined: May 2012 Posts: 5 | It is a lot of extra handling, but if you have a tractor or access to one... a 3 point pto driven spreader (spinner type) works pretty well. They usally hold about 500-600 lbs per load. If you can find someone with a drop spreader (8 foot or wider) will also carries a lot of weight and does well. I have seen people use excavtors lift the super sack and slit the bottom to semi spread it and then use the bobcat, or something being a tractor or ATV to even it out. |
